Information on handling old equipment
The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a large number of requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment. The most important ones are summarized here.
- Separate collection of old equipment
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as old equipment. Owners of old equipment must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, old appliances do not belong in household waste, but in special collection and return systems. - Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As a rule, owners of old appliances must separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance from the latter before handing them in at a collection point. This does not apply if the waste equipment is handed over to public waste management authorities and separated from other waste equipment there for the purpose of preparation for reuse. - Options for returning old equipment
Owners of old appliances from private households can hand them in at the collection points of the public waste management authorities or at the take-back points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. An online directory of collection and return points can be found here: https://www.ear-system.de/ear-verzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen.jsf. - Data protection notice
Old devices often contain sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications technology devices such as computers and smartphones. In your own interest, please note that each end user is responsible for deleting the data on the old devices to be disposed of. - Meaning of the "crossed-out dustbin" symbol
The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled garbage can regularly displayed on electrical and electronic equipment indicates that the respective device must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life. - Manufacturer registration number
As a manufacturer in the sense of the ElektroG we are registered at the responsible foundation Elektro-Altgeräte Register under the following registration number:
EAR registration number: WEEE Reg. No. DE 32801947 - Information about the handling of used batteries
Since our shipments may contain batteries and rechargeable batteries, we are required by the Battery Act (BattG) to inform you of the following: Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. You are legally obligated to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and can be recycled. You can either return the batteries to us after use or return them free of charge in the immediate vicinity (e.g. in retail outlets or municipal collection points or in our dispatch warehouse (BOLK e-commerce GmbH, Rathausplatz 3, 52152 Simmerath)). The delivery at sales points is limited to the usual quantities for end users as well as such used batteries that the distributor carries or has carried in his assortment as new batteries.
The sign with the crossed out garbage can means that you are not allowed to dispose of batteries and accumulators in the household garbage. Under this sign you will also find the following symbols with the following meaning:
Pb: Battery contains lead
Cd: Battery contains cadmium
Hg: Battery contains mercury
